Give them their place in history

Velvet & Whisker started at a kitchen table with one photograph of a very old dog and a promise to paint him properly. Old ateliers painted patrons with attention, a little theatre and real affection; we thought the animals who shape our days deserved the same.

Every commission still begins the way that first one did. We open your photograph and look for the things only you would notice — the ear that never quite sits flat, the white chin, the way the eyes hold light — and carry them into one of our fifteen characters.

You see a proof before anything is printed, and two rounds of refinement are part of every order. Then the portrait is printed on silk-coated paper, framed in pine and sent with tracking. We keep the range small on purpose: a handful of collections, made carefully.
